Description
I am auctioning off the opportunity to financially help a community servant, life-long teacher and upstanding citizen. I am auctioning off the chance to feel happiness, gratification, fulfillment, and contentment. I am auctioning off these same feelings that I get from educating children, to someone who can financially support my goals. I have been in education for 17 years, 15 years in teaching and 2 years in administration. After turning 39 this May, I realized I have very little to show for all my years of community service. I don’t have a retirement or savings. I don’t have a husband’s salary to rely on, or my parent inheritance. As a matter of fact I didn’t ask for alimony from my ex-husband or the house. I am so proud to say I bought my first home on my own last year, but I’m having a hard time making the mortgage payments. I have a nice car, but it is a 2002 pre-owned model with lots of mileage, and I only paid 4 months toward my 7 year car loan. I would like to live a certain way – a way of life I have been exposed to through previous relationships - but a way of life I could never afford as a teacher. I have never been idle, but rather someone who has rigorously worked trying to make ends meet my whole life. I have been applying for a second and third job with no results. I worked 3 jobs in college. I even worked 2 jobs in elementary school. For the past few years I would cook on the side for the teachers to make a few bucks. I wrote a patent and a book and haven’t had the funds to help launch their success. I have never done drugs or even partied, though I am tons of fun and a comedian at heart. I have always done things the right way, with perfect credit, with a perfect driving record and a squeaky clean police record. I have been in the newspaper in Philadelphia and in Florida for being an exemplary citizen and educator as well as for my comic relief and my cooking! I am basically a good girl gone scared. I watch the news everyday and freak out at the nation’s economic state. I don’t want to foreclose on my house or loose my job, but it seems like a reality that will eventually touch my life. What I would do with the generous auction money in order: EBAY AUCTION 1: A) Pay off my own home, car and bills. B) My parents’ home, car & bills. C) My 2 grandmothers’ homes and D) their nursing care. EBAY AUCTION 2: Buy my parents plane tickets to see my new home. They have never visited me in Florida since I moved here in 2004 because they had no one to care for my grandmothers, or had the finances to pay for their nursing care or the plane tickets. EBAY AUCTION 3: Open an Italian Trattoria, A Philly Cheese-Steak Shop and an Italian-Ice Stand, employ my family and name them after the donor. (With revenues, pay off my parents’ home, car & bills, my 2 grandmothers’ homes, their nursing care.) - donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Red Cross. EBAY AUCTION 4: Market my patent /invention. – donate a percentage of the proceeds to Breast Cancer. EBAY AUCTION 5: Publish my book. - donate a percentage of the proceeds to Autism. EBAY AUCTION 6: Open my own Dog Daycare. - donate a percentage of the proceeds to an Animal charity. EBAY AUCTION 7: Go on a vacation. EBAY AUCTION 8: If there is anything left, retire and travel the world. I am giving someone, who is much more fortunate than my self - financially, a chance to experience the same feeling I get from educating children. I am auctioning off the chance to feel: happiness, pleasure, satisfaction, enjoyment, delight, gratification, fulfillment, contentment, bliss, joy, and exhilaration by helping me out financially. Whoever helps me will always be in my daily prayers untill my last day.
